Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi must both be interested in securing a record sixth Ballon d'Or win next week.
The 33-year-old Portuguese forward and Barcelona's talisman have held a decade-long dominance of the award, but there are reports suggesting that both players could miss out on winning the 2018 Ballon d'Or.
According to Daily Express, the three-man shortlist and the positions that each player will finish in have been leaked.
The Juventus star, who recently auctioned one of his Ballon d'Ors off for charity, is set to finish second.
Real Madrid star Luka Modrić will be named the 2018 winner, while Atlético Madrid's Antoine Griezmann will come third on the podium.
And yes, that means Messi will miss out on a top-three finish for the first time since 2006.
It might come as a disappointment for Atlético boss Diego Simeone if his World Cup-winning Frenchman finishes third, especially after he claimed that the 27-year-old forward should win the Ballon d'Or.
“We can safely say that Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Lionel Messi are the best footballers in the world,” he said.
The ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. GMT on 3rd December in Paris.
