2021 AFCON: Current S’Eagles Squad Don’t Function As A Team – Finidi

2021 AFCON Current S'Eagles Squad Don't Function As A Team - Finidi

Former Nigerian midfielder, Finidi George has revealed that the current Super Eagles squad doesn't function well as a team.

He made this known in an interview with Channels Television, where he stated that the current squad is not better than the team that led Nigeria to win the bronze at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The three-time AFCON champions are in Group D alongside Egypt, Guinea-Bissau, and Sudan. They will face the Pharaohs in the opening group fixture on January 11.

Finidi, who was part of the squad that won the 1994 AFCON in Tunisia said, “The current Super Eagles team are not better than the set that finished third at the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt.

“I saw them against Sierra Leone when they conceded three goals in the second half, and they drew that game.

“All we have seen is individual brilliance, but they don’t function well as a team.”
