50 Players Revolt Premier League Restart

About 50 Premier League stars are planning not to take part in plans to restart the season, according to reports.

According to a source from one club, he told The Mirror that “two or three” players from every team have major reservations about getting the top flight season back under way in June.

The Premier League is expected to return to action on June 12, with the remaining 92 fixtures completed by the end of June.

Sergio Aguero and Glenn Murray are among those to have spoken out, while other are said to harbour concerns.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder have both said they would understand players not wanting to play, with the former insisting no-one will be forced into a return against their will.

Dean Smith has also raised concerns over two Aston Villa players sitting out of the remainder of the campaign over health fears.

Here’s what Brighton chief executive Paul Barber had to say: “The players have a number of questions to ask about safety. We have got to be able to answer those questions.
