Michael Emenalo was often ridiculed by Chelsea fans over some of his transfer policy during his time as a technical director at the club but now he has taken a very big Blues target away from the Premier League club.
Emenalo now works as the sporting director of Monaco and they are close to signing Aleksandr Golovin from CSKA Moscow, with Chelsea having been close to taking him to Stamford Bridge after an exceptional World Cup.
After talks with Emenalo, Golovin has decided to join the Ligue 1 side with the announcement to be made in the coming days.
That means Chelsea have missed out on signing the 22-year-old for the summer, with the transfer market being quite slow for Chelsea.
Rob Green became just the second signing of the summer this morning, along with Jorginho who joined on the same weekend as Maurizio Sarri.
While the Blues are yet to really get going in the transfer window, Monaco also took Jonathan Panzo from Chelsea’s academy, and Chelsea supporters have a new respect for Emenalo.
