Former Gombe FA chairman, Shuaibu Gara-Gombe has warned former super eagles and former Tanzania national team coach, Emmanuel Amunike to reject Super Eagles assistant coach job.
According to brila.net, Gara-Gombe said Amunike, who has handled several teams both at national team and club levels outside the nationâs shores, would be messed up if he takes any Super Eagles backroom staff job.
âI hear Amunikeâs name has been mentioned as one of those the NFF want to go for after the meeting with Sunday Dare. I want to warn Amunike not to have anything to do with the Eaglesâ¦they will mess him up.
âThey will owe him salaries and at the end of the day he would regret it. They want him to come and work, let them pay him upfront because if they canât get the federal government to settle the money being owed Eagles since after the Nations Cup in Egypt, where will he get the money to pay Amunike.
âAmunike is bigger than being one of Rohrâs assistants after coaching in places like Tanzania, Egypt and working at the highest level with FIFA.â

Gara-Gombe stressed that Amunike would be better off if he continues to build his coaching career outside and should only return home to serve his fatherland when the present dirty politics being played in Nigerian football stops.
