According to TeamTalk, Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing Southampton defender Matt Targett this summer.
They report that Arsenal are prepared to battle with Liverpool, as well as Leicester, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Fulham for the 23-year-old.

Gunners’ current left back options are somewhat uninspiring with loyal club servant Nacho Monreal close to the end of his career and Sead Kolasinac lacking the needed quality for a side with Champions League aspirations.
The Englishman struggled to force his way into the Southampton side last term, but may well fall within Gunners’ price range, while Spotrac claim he receives £35,000 a week currently.
Targett is young, has good talent and decent Premier League experience so there’s a lot to like about any potential swoop for Arsenal.
He is only going to get better, particularly if he gets more game time – but possibly some Gooners may prefer a bigger name through the door during a vitally important summer.

It also remains to be seen if they could outmanoeuvre the Reds in the transfer market given that they are the current European champions and can offer a seat at the Champions League table next season as well.
