Arteta Delt Major First-Team Blow Ahead Of Brentford Clash

Arsenal will kick off their Premier League season against a newly promoted side, Brentford this evening.

But according to Goal, the Gunners will be without their star striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the season curtain-raiser.

Mikel Arteta will now have to pick someone else – possibly Alex Lacazette – to lead the line as a number nine.

This means Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, and Nicolas Pepe could now all start as a slot in the wide areas will need filling.

Aubameyang’s form last season left a lot to be desired scoring just ten Premier League goals, despite signing a mega-money new deal in the summer of 2020.

The Gabon star’s future is also said to be up in the air.

Reports today suggest the club could even sell their captain.

However, Aubameyang’s absence tonight is not thought to be linked to any potential move.

Many Arsenal fans have run out of patience with Aubameyang anyway.
