According to a report from Italian news outlet Tutttomercatoweb, Atletico Madrid will complete the permanent signing of Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata for €56 million this summer.
Morata joined Atletico during the January transfer window, and the contract included an option to buy clause for the end of the season.
It seems the La Liga have been left impressed by the Spain international’s efforts in his homeland and will trigger their option to sign him permanently for a colossal fee.
Diego Simeone’s side looks all but set to lose Antoine Griezmann this summer after he confirmed that he would be exiting Madrid, meaning that the weight of signing attacking players has never been greater for the club.
The ex-Real Madrid star struggled to make an impact at Chelsea in his first two seasons in the Premier League and fell out of favour under Maurizio Sarri this season.
With the summer transfer window now open, it seems Morata is ready to sign a permanent stay at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Morata never, in fact, found his feet at Stamford Bridge. He struggled to acclimatize to the Premier League and was rather easy to play against.
