Benin 0-1 Nigeria: Onuachu Gives Super Eagles All Three Point

Paul Onuachu came in as a substitute to give Nigeria a late match winner to qualify the Super Eagles in style to the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.

Benin were just seconds away from also qualifying for the AFCON, only for the Genk striker to head home off a goalmouth scramble.

Nigeria had already qualified for the tournament before kick-off, thanks to Lesotho’s goalless draw with Sierra Leone earlier in the day.

The Squirrels will now have to seal qualification in Sierra Leone, who drew 0-0 in Lesotho earlier today.

Gernot Rohr and his men now have an unassailable 11 points to win the group before Tuesday’s final qualifier in Lagos against Lesotho.

The three-time African champions dominated this West African derby from start to finish and would have won it much earlier but for ill-luck and some great goalkeeping by Saturnin Allagbe.
