Steve Bruce has decided to leave Newcastle United on mutual consent.
Bruce’s exit comes just 13 days after the Premier League club were taken over by a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium.
The 60-year-old took charge of Newcastle in the summer of 2019 and leaves with the club just 19th in the Premier League, three points adrift of safety.
Newcastle United have lost five of their eight league games this season and are still searching for their first win, having suffered a 3-2 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday in Bruce’s 1000th game as a manager.
The Magpies confirmed Graeme Jones will take charge of the squad on an interim basis, supported by coaches Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence, Ben Dawson and Simon Smith.
