Huge Champions League Boost for Liverpool Ahead Of Porto Showdown

Champions League Boost for Liverpool

FC Porto are faced with major disciplinary issues for their Champions League quarter-final tie against Liverpool.

The Portuguese outfit clash with Liverpool in Anfield first leg on Tuesday, but will be without two of their most senior players through suspension.

Veteran defender Pepe misses out after being booked in the last-16 victory over Roma when ex-Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko theatrically reacted to a head-to-head confrontation between them.

Referee Cuneyt Cakir booked both players, thereby triggering a one-game suspension for the former Real Madrid centre-back.

Porto skipper Hector Herrera also got booked in the game and is banned for the match at Anfield.

Three Porto players go into the game knowing that a booking will see them miss the return leg back in Portugal on April 17.

The 21-year-old centre-back Eder Militao is one of those players, with midfielders Danilo and Otavio also at risk.

Left-back Andy Robertson will be missing in action for Liverpool after he was booked in the closing stages of the 3-1 win at Bayern Munich in the last-16; the Scot set to be replaced by James Milner at left-back.

There are no Reds players who would miss the second leg if they were booked, with yellow cards wiped after the quarter-final stage.
