Champions League: Solskjaer Picks Five Man Utd Youngsters To Face PSG

Five Mna Utd Youngsters To Face PSG

Manchester United are going to Paris for their Champions League last 16 second-leg clash against PSG with a very young squad as they deal with injuries and suspensions.

United travel to the Parc des Princes needing to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit, with goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe giving the French champions the lead.

The Red Devils' task has been made even harder by their raft of injury worries, with neither Jesse Lingard or Anthony Martial involved after picking up problems against Thomas Tuchel's side three weeks ago.

Alexis Sanchez's season could be over after damaging knee ligaments against Southampton, while Paul Pogba is suspended after a late red card in the first leg.

With Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera still sidelined, and not spotted at Manchester airport with the rest of the squad on Tuesday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to pick a very young midfield in their absence.

Here are the Man Utd players spotted at the airport as reported by metro.co.uk: Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Tahith Chong, Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams, Angel Gomes, James Garner, Sergio Romero, Ashley Young, David de Gea, Scott McTominay, Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot, Andreas Pereira, Fred, Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof

Out of the 20-man squad, five are academy teenagers: Tahith Chong, Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams, Angel Gomes and James Garner.

Given United's injury issues, three of that quintet are likely to at least make the bench in Paris on Wednesday night.

There was at least a very welcome sight at the airport as legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson joined the squad to fly out to Paris, and United's players may need to summon the spirit of 1999 to pull off a win against PSG.
