Chelsea 2-0 Atletico: Simeone Explains Angry Luis Suarez Substitution

Luis Suarez has been in inspired form in La Liga this season but has found the European scene a tougher nut to crack.

The 34-year-old was taken off shortly before the hour mark at Stamford Bridge last night in the Champions League and was visibly annoyed at having completed a sixth successive match in the competition for his new club without scoring.

‘It’s normal that he got angry when he was taken off, players want to stay on,’ Diego Simeone said of Suarez who, overall, has now failed to score a goal away from home in the Champions League since 2015.

‘We wanted a new way to attack them so we made changes.’

Chelsea’s comprehensive 3-0 aggregate victory was ultimately secured by goals from Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri.

And manager Thomas Tuchel insists nobody will want to face his resurgent side in the next round.
