Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is a step closer to reuniting with Gonzalo Higuain as the 31-year-old has agreed to join Chelsea, according to reports in Italy.
Sarri wants Chelsea to sign a new forward in the January transfer window and Higuain is top of his shortlist.
The Chelsea boss was dejected with Higuain's decision to join Juventus after that record-breaking campaign but Sarri remains fond of the Argentine striker and described him as a ‘wonderful player' and a ‘wonderful man' last week.
One option for Chelsea would be to take over AC Milan's loan agreement with Juve and sign Higuain on a short-term deal until the end of the season and have the option to make the move permanent for €36 million.
According to Sport Mediaset, Juventus are prepared to accept Chelsea's bid for Higuain, while the striker has officially requested to join Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are ready to allow Alvaro Morata to join AC Milan on an 18-month loan deal.
Sarri dropped the Spain international from Chelsea's matchday squad for the 2-1 win over Watford on Boxing Day notwithstanding him being available for selection after recovering from a knee injury.
