Chelsea Missing Out On Jovic

Chelsea are going ahead with their recruitment plans because they are optimistic their two-window FIFA transfer ban will be frozen by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

As per the Press Association, Stamford Bridge bosses back a move for Ajax forward Neres now that Jovic appears out of reach.

The Brazil star has impressed amid Ajax's run to the Champions League semi-finals and the domestic double.

Chelsea have an upbeat relationship with Neres' agents Giuliano Bertolucci and Kia Joorabchian, with the duo representing Blues defender David Luiz.

A new striker is seriously needed at Stamford Bridge heading into the summer transfer window.

Gonzalo Higuain is expected to return to parent club Juventus after not been able to impress on loan.

The west Londoners are, however, likely to trigger the one-year extension in Olivier Giroud's deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge next season.

Christian Pulisic will join Chelsea this summer, with the US international expected to replace Real Madrid-bound Eden Hazard.
