Willian, who was a start for Brazil at the Russia World Cup, has been the subject of intense interest from Barca, Man Utd and most recently Real Madrid, who have allegedly tabled a £65 million offer. The Blues are understood to be holding out for £70m.
Sources close to Willian have reportedly insisted that it is only a passport issue preventing his return to London, but people inside Stamford Bridge are worried that the situation may possibly escalate much like Diego Costa’s absence 12 months ago. Costa refused to show up at pre-season training last summer after agreeing to a transfer back to Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea are expected to travel to Dublin to play against Arsenal in an International Champions Cup friendly on Wednesday before the official season-opener in the Community Shield against Man City on Sunday.
