Samuel Chukwueze took his Spanish League goals tally to three after 13 games in Villarreal’s 3-1 defeat to Celta Vigo at the El Madrigal.
The Nigerian international fired home from close range after running into space to connect with Xavier Quintilla’s pass from the left flank.
Although, his goal was not enough to rescue a point for the Yellow Submarines after two goals from Iago Aspas and one from Pione Sisto sealed the win for the visitors.
The Super Eagles winger featured for the home team all through the game while Karl Toko Ekambi was substituted in the 77th minute.
The 20-year-old’s progress in Spain has earned him so much recognition that he was among the nominees for the 2019 African young player of the year.
Also nominated in the category is his strike partner in the national team Victor Osimhen, who has been superb for his French League side Lille.
Both players were on target when Nigeria defeated Lesotho in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier earlier this month.
The Villarreal star made his debut for the Super Eagles in November 2018 and has gone ahead to make 13 appearances with two goals credited to his name.
