Confirmed: Liverpool Starting XI Line-Up Vs Leicester, See Injury & Suspension List

Virgil van Dijk will not be in action when Liverpool meet with Leicester City at Anfield on Wednesday due to illness.

Van Dijk has been unable to train since falling ill following the Reds’ return from a warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

As such, he faces a race against time to prove his fitness for Wednesday’s visit of the Foxes to Merseyside.

The Dutchman’s likely absence would add to Jürgen Klopp’s growing selection headache in defence.

The German is already without Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee) and Joe Gomez (leg), while makeshift right-back James Milner is suspended.

That could provide an opportunity for academy graduate Rafael Camacho, or Fabinho being named in the position he occupies for Brazil.

Klopp’s options have been boosted by the return of Dejan Lovren, however, with the Croatian likely to get the nod at centre-back should Van Dijk miss out.

Georginio Wijnaldum is also expected to be in action after missing the recent 4-3 win over Crystal Palace with a knee issue.
