Manchester United have reportedly made a formal offer to Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendez.
The Red Devils are keeping an eye on the 35-year-old's situation, amid reports the Serie A club want to reduce their wage bill.
And United have allegedly put the feelers out, with Portuguese publication Record, via SportWitness, claiming Ronaldo is mulling over the offer but remains focused on Juve.
Ronaldo is Juventus' best-paid player earning a staggering £28million a season.
It seems plausible that the Italian champions would want the forward off their wage bill, and that the Old Trafford club would be keen to bring him home, but the transfer appears unlikely.
United, who have tightened their purse strings themselves in recent months due to the coronavirus pandemic, are in need of a new centre-back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unlikely to splash the cash in January, but will no doubt look to bring in a defender in the summer as well as rekindle the Red Devil's interest in Jadon Sancho.

Ronaldo, however, will not be short of suitors, with Paris Saint-Germain also linked.
