David Luiz have explained that there was nothing wrong with the overall strategy Chelsea deployed against West Ham on Sunday afternoon when they played a 0-0 draw. The defender said it was the execution of the strategy that was not up to top standard.
‘Of course we are disappointed,' said David Luiz.
‘We didn't play a fantastic game, we didn't create a lot.
‘On Sunday we didn't play at our high level so that is why we didn't win.
‘We know that many teams now are going to play against us this way, with a low block and trying to play on the counter-attack, so there was not a lot of space but it is up to us to try to find a solution.
There is quickly chance for the Blues to get back to winning ways, and also to close the two-point gap which now exists between them leaders Liverpool, with the knife-edge football of a knockout cup tie away against them on Wednesday, before Chelsea play the Merseysiders in their next league game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
‘The best games are games like that,' reckons the Brazilian back.
‘We are going to play against a fantastic team so we need to rest and be ready for both games.”
