Manchester United are in talks with Edinson Cavani’s representatives regarding a free transfer to Old Trafford, according to reports.
The Uruguayan was linked with Chelsea in January but a detail failed to materialise for Cavani.
Atletico Madrid also want to sign the experienced frontman this summer despite already bringing in his international team-mate Luis Suarez from Barcelona.
But Spanish outlet AS say United are now keen on taking the 33-year-old to the Premier League.
The report says the Red Devils have begun discussions with Cavani’s agent and brother as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to strengthen his attacking options.
However, Cavani’s high wage demands may scupper chances of any deal.
Odion Ighalo was brought in on loan late in the January window but is not seen as a long-term solution and is set to return to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua in January 2021.
So that would leave room for a player like Cavani to provide backup to the likes of Anthony Martial.
