Eguavoen Takes Big Risk In Mexico Friendly Vs Super Eagles

NFF technical director, Austin Eguavoen, who will lead out a squad of NPFL stars for the friendly against Mexico on July 3 in Los Angeles, USA, has announced the withdrawal of Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

The Heartland goalkeeper was ruled out of the friendly game due to an ankle injury he suffered in training.

“A scan showed he tore a ligament in his ankle, so he’s out, Eguavoen said.

“Two goalkeepers, Nwabili and John Noble, will be the ones for the trip.”

Twenty two players on last night (Wednesday) left the shore of Nigeria for the trip to the USA.

Enyimba shot-stopper John Noble is the favourite to replace the Super Eagles’ Team B Captain in goal.

Noble is not a stranger to the setup as he was invited for the Nations Cup qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.

It was gathered that Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr was also on the flight, though it will be Austin Eguavoen assisted by Paul Aigbogun that will be in charge when the two sides confront each other on Saturday in Los Angeles.
