Exclusive: 2022 W’Cup Qualifiers: Liberia, Cape Verde Can’t Stop S’Eagles Quest – Shorunmu

Former Nigerian Goalkeeper, Ike Sorunmu has revealed that Liberia and Cape Verde can't stop the Super Eagles' quest of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Shorunmu stated this on Friday in an interview with Goalballlive, few hours after Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr released the list of 30 players for the games.

Nigeria will commence its campaign against Liberia on September 3 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium before traveling to Cape Verde four days later.

However, Shorunmu opined that he's optimistic the current squad of players invited by Rohr will deliver the job.

“I am very optimistic the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. I really don't think teams like Liberia and Cape Verde will stop their quest because the players I see are hungry for glory.

“My only advice for Rohr is to ensure that they always kill off the game when the opportunity is offered to them on a platter of gold.

“We must avoid waiting for other teams to do us a favour before we can qualify for a major tournament.”
