Exclusive: Super Eagles Will Conquer Liberia Today – Adepoju

Former Nigerian midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju says he's optimistic the Super Eagles will overcome the Lone Stars of Liberia in today's 2022 World Cup qualifier.

The game is the first between both countries since 2012, where the Eagles annihilated the Lone Star 6-1 in Calabar after rallying to a 2-2 draw in Monrovia in the reverse fixture.

However, Adepoju in a chat with Goalballive stated that the team has no excuses not to defeat Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

“I really don't think there should be any cause for concern in today's game against Liberia because based on the invited players in Rohr's disposal, Nigeria should be able to overcome the.

“I am very optimistic of victory because we are playing at home and the players know the importance of the fixture. Without mincing words, Liberia will only try their best but Nigeria will trimph over them.”

However, a win will leapfrog the Eagles to the top of Group C – a position Gernot Rohr wants his team to be after Friday’s game – following Cape Verde and Central African Republic’s 1-1 draw in their match-day one encounter in Douala, Cameroon on Wednesday.
