Finidi eyes successful spell at Enyimba

Head coach of Enyimba international football club, Finidi George has assured that the People’s Elephant will ‘do all our best’ to ensure they ‘win trophies’ with him at the helm of Enyimba.

It will be recalled that the former Super Eagles winger recently guided Enyimba to a 1-nil win against Senegalese side, Diambars in the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary rounds in Senegal last weekend.

While fielding questions from journalists, the gaffer who has just been handed a two year contract at Enyimba quelled every rumor of being under pressure to deliver at a very ambitious Enyimba side.

He said: “I know the task ahead of us. We will do all our best to make sure that we win trophies. So, we will see how the season goes, but I can assure that we are ready.

The 50-year old manager further stressed that the club under his watch will try play entertaining football provided the playing turfs around the country permit it.

“Definitely, we’ll try and play (entertaining) football, I think football has evolved.

“We all watch the Premier League, so, we see how clubs play, and these players try to emulate as well. So, we try to caution them.

“If the field can permit us to play that free-flowing football, we’ll do that. If we go to a stadium where it is not possible, then we’ll try to adapt to the new situation and try and get the best out of the players.”

Enyimba, the most successful Nigerian club side, who have won 2 CAF Champions League titles, will host Diambars FC in the second leg of the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary rounds in Nigeria this weekend.
