A member of the Flying Eagles squad to the 1983 U-20 World Cup in Mexico, Tajudeen Disu has expressed his displeasure with the 24-man list that was released by Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr for the 2021 AFCON Qualifier against Sierra Leone.
Rohr, who named a strong squad that will face Sierra Leone in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on March 27, only named Ikechukwu Ezenwa as the only Home Based player in the team.
Reacting to this development, Disu says Rohr's negligence of the home-based players doesn't promote the good image of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“In as much as I want to applaud the list of players that Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr invite for the game against Sierra Leone. I must also admit that his decision to include just one home-based player wasn't a good one,” Disu told Goalballlive.com.
“The inclusion of Ikechukwu Ezenwa isn't enough for the NPFL because we have quality players that could have been part of the squad that will face Sierra Leone.
“I just want to believe that Rohr should have done better than what he has just done at the moment. In all, I think the team is good enough to pick the maximum points against Sierra Leone.”
