Bafana Bafana In Quarterfinal

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has expressed his happiness over his side having to meet the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Nigeria qualified for the quarter-final stage after defeating the tournament’s defending champions, Cameroon 3-2 on Saturday.

Odion Ighalo put Nigeria in the lead in the first half only for the IndomitableLions to equalize and went onto lead the Eagles by 2-1 at the end of the first half.

When the game resumed, Ighalo score again to keep Nigeria at par with Cameroon. And within three minutes, Ighalo again provided the assist that gave Alex Iwobi the goal that buried the Lions.

South Africa, on the other hand, fought so hard to eliminate the host nation, Egypt, from the competition.

Bafana Bafana scored a late goal to knock out the Pharaohs by 1-0.

Rohr, just like several Super Eagle fans, had been anxious to see South Africa beat Egypt so they don’t have to face the host nation as defeating a host nation is deemed a herculean task.
