Gunners Player Ratings & Goals: Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal – Iwobi Impress Against Chelsea

Arsenal surrendered in familiar fashion as they sank to a hugely bitter 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Europa League final last night.

The Blues opened the scoring thanks to a beautiful Olivier Giroud header soon after half time and Maurizio Sarri's men made it 2-0 via Pedro minutes later after Ainsley Maitland-Niles had lost possession in midfield.

Only four minutes later and Maitland-Niles gave away a penalty. Eden Hazard made it 3-0 from the spot and while Alex Iwobi pulled one back with a fine strike, Hazard sealed a 4-1 win with another goal in the 72nd minute.

See my ratings below:

Cech  6/10 | Made a couple of great saves but got nowhere the four Chelsea goals.

Sokratis  5/10 | A couple of nice blocks but couldn’t handle the Chelsea attack.

Koscielny  4/10 | Gave Giroud way too much space for the all-important opening goal and slow to react for Pedro’s effort.

Monreal  4/10 | Couldn’t deal with his movement and was dragged all over the place. Subbed.

Maitland-Niles  3/10 | Lost possession in the build-up to the Giroud opener, gave away the penalty and was exposed many times.

Xhaka  5/10 | Some nice passes and went close with a long-range strike.

Torreira  4/10 | Totally lost out on the midfield action to Kante and Jorginho.

Kolasinac  3/10 | Got into some promising positions but his final ball was shocking. Miserable defensively too.

Ozil  3/10 | Did well against Jorginho in the first half but went missing after the break. Subbed.

Aubameyang  4/10 | Missed a nice chance to open the scoring early on and it proved crucial.

Lacazette  4/10 | Should have had a penalty at 0-0 and fluffed a good opportunity in the second half.

Subs:

Guendouzi   5/10 | Did nothing noteworthy.

Iwobi   7/10 | Excellent impact off the bench. Made it 3-1 with a magnificent goal and added some directness.

Willock  7/10 | Youngster did more in 15 minutes than Ozil did in 75.
