Rangers International coach, Imama Apamakabo is reportedly set to replace former boss Salisu Yussuf following his ban over a bribery scandal.
Imama who has been assistant to Coach Salisu Yussuf is now favored ahead of Abdul Maikaba and Kennedy Boboye, who was the 2017 NPFL Champion with Plateau United FC, to step into the void presently in the Super Eagles, CHAN Eagles and Nigeria U-23 team which was created by Salisu Yussuf’s ban.
A top NFF official told reporters: “He will be given a contract soon.”
Coach Imama as an assistant coach of national team was not entitled to a contract and only had to make do with match bonuses and allowances, but with the fresh developments he might need to give up his role with El-Kanemi Warriors as Technical Adviser to concentrate exclusively on the National Team duty for the Super Eagles, CHAN Eagles and the Nigeria U-23 team who have an AFCON U-23 game qualifier scheduled for November.
