It Is Official! Iwobi Moves To Everton, Becomes Costliest Nigerian Player

Iwobi Moves To Everton

Arsenal have agreed to sell Alex Iwobi to Everton for a stunning £40million and he will sign a five-year contract at Goodison Park, it has been reported.

The Toffees made the late swoop for the winger – who is undergoing a medical in London – after their hopes of signing Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha were dashed earlier Thursday.

Reports suggest the deal will be done without any issues and is expected to be completed by tonight’s deadline.

Zaha was Everton’s first choice and handed in a transfer request at Selhurst Park in the hope of forcing through the move.

But Palace owner Steve Parish held firm and the winger will stay put.

And the Gunners appear to have taken advantage of the Merseysiders’ desperate need for a winger – having rejected a £30m offer for Iwobi from Everton only Wednesday.

According to BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein the clubs have agreed a deal between £35m-£40m.

Despite the transfer window shutting at 5:00pm, clubs can apply for special dispensation if a deal is imminent.
