Alex Iwobi has come out to disclose that the Arsenal squad are keen for Aaron Ramsey to stay at the club.
The Wales international was expected to extend his stay in the capital with talks ongoing with the club for some time, however, it was reported last week that Arsenal have now pulled the plug on a new contract.
Confirmation on Twitter by Avid Sports & Entertainment Group, the agency representing Ramsey, says that Ramsey will be leaving either in the January transfer window or on a free next summer.
In several posts that have since been deleted, they claimed that the player didn't want to leave but the club have made a decision and “there is no other option”.
Thus, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United, as well as the master of a free transfer Juve, have been linked with a move for Ramsey.
But, Iwobi is hopeful that the north London will do a u-turn over Ramsey's contract decision.
“He’s a great player. When I was breaking into the first team, I always used to watch and learn things from him. I am still doing that today, ” he told BT Sport.
“It would be a great miss if he goes but hopefully he can stay.
“We all want him to stay. Hopefully, it can get sorted.”
Should Ramsey leave in January – as expected – then it does appear that Unai Emery already has a replacement lined up.
According to FOX Deportes USA, the Gunners have shown an interest in Atlanta United attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron and have now arranged to pay €13million (£11m) for him in the next transfer window.
