Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp should re-sign Philippe Coutinho this summer so says Reds legend Phil Thompson.
The Brazilian has not been able to settle at Barcelona since leaving Anfield in a £142million deal last January.
Barcelona are now said to be interested in selling him in the summer and are willing to cut their losses on Coutinho who has shown little signs of the form that prompted the Spanish giants to part with such a fee.
And Thompson thinks Klopp should do all he can to try and get him back on Merseyside.
“I would take him back in a heartbeat, but it would have to be now,” Thompson told Sky Sports News.
“You don't want to leave it another 12 months, I think he still has the ability.
“He's suffered at Barcelona. We've seen him playing out wide on the left, but he's not Neymar.
“He's not a left-winger and that's where he's playing at Barcelona; they don't love him as Liverpool loved him.”
The Red Devils were linked with a move during the last winter window while Chelsea could make a move – that is if they can get their two-window transfer ban delayed.
