Ronald Koeman had to root out an enemy in his dressing room during his early days at Barcelona who was leaking his team selections, his brother Erwin has revealed.
Erwin – who was assistant to his brother at Everton and Southampton – claimed Koeman was ‘totally focused’ on the task at hand with Barca despite coming under pressure for some poor results this season, and added that he is providing advice to help him lead the club to success.
‘During the first months, someone from the locker room leaked the line-ups, but Ronald solved it,’ he told Voetbal International, as reported by the Sun.
‘He has a certain tension, more than the one he had with the Dutch team because Barca is not like working with the national team once every three months.
‘He is totally focused on Barca.
‘And it’s the only thing he thinks about. We are in touch and we talk about the club, the players and the family. And sometimes I advise him.’
The dressing room spy is not the only mole Barcelona have struggled with this season.
Star man Lionel Messi – who is expected to leave the club for free this summer – had details of his £492million contract leaked to the Spanish press.
The former Holland boss himself has called for anyone involved in the leak to be sacked and said it was a bid to ‘damage’ the Argentine.
