Leeds United have been boost up in their attempts to sign Carpi striker Jerry Mbakogu during the summer transfer window.
The Yorkshire giants have beforehand held an interest in the 25-year-old but a transfer had been in uncertainty due to the Nigerian potentially struggling to secure a work permit due a lack of international appearances.
However, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds remain eager to push through a deal with Mbakogu being given Italian citizenship having moved to the country at an early age.
Leeds are now likely to push ahead with a £4m deal with Carpi looking doubtful to claim a place back in Serie A after a poor campaign at Italy's second tier.
Mbakogu has netted six goals in 23 appearances in Serie B this season.
