Super Eagles defenders, Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem were a force to reckon with when their relegation-threatened club CD Leganes visited Atletico Madrid and secured a 0-0 draw in Sunday’s LaLiga clash at the Wanda Metropolitan.
The two Nigerian defenders featured for 90 minutes for the Javier Aguirre’s men in the hard-fought away draw against one of LaLiga’ s biggest teams.
Despite coming up against the likes of Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata and Saul Niguez, Omeruo and Awaziem fought resiliently to stop them from finding the back of the net.
With this game, Awaziem now has thirteen LaLiga game appearance whereas Omeruo made his 14th appearance this season.
The scoreline, even though impressive, did not help Leganes out of the relegation zone. They remain in 19th position on 15 points but are now just three points away from safety.
