Lewandowski Contract Extension Too Early – Bayern Chairman

Robert Lewandowski's contract remains two years and Bayern Munich chairman Herbert Hainer has admitted that the club are not currently focused on extending it.

The striker have linked him with a move away from Allianz Arena and Hainer says he can ‘imagine' Lewandowski staying beyond 2023 from the conversations he has had so far. But insists it is still too early.

Bayern have not yet offered the Pole an extension on his contract, it is believed the Bundesliga side are lining up a move for Erling Haaland next summer as a replacement for their No 9.

‘’We're happy with Robert. But we don't have to extend the contract now, we still have 2 years,” Hainer told BILD TV when asked about Lewandowski's situation.

‘’As I said, I can imagine Robert staying beyond 2023. We're in permanent talks with all our players, including Lewy. But now is still early'’.
