Peter Rufai has asked fans to shift the blame of national team goalie, Francis Uzoho for his shaky performance against Libya in the AFCON 2019 qualifier to the coaching crew of the Super Eagles.
The Former Super Eagles goalkeeper in an interview with Footballlive.ng said that Uzoho is a talent for the future and needs very serious nurturing rather than being thrown into a very top competitive level in the national team.
Rufai, who was Nigeria’s number one goalkeeper at the USA 1994 and France 1998 world cup, however, called on the Gernot Rohr led coaching crew to cautiously re-assess the goalkeeping department of the Eagles noting that there are a lot of talented goalkeepers in Nigeria who can make the goalkeeping department more competitive than it is at the moment.
The Super Eagles are just an inch closer to picking an AFCON 2019 ticket following their 3-2 victory over Libya in Sfax, Tunisia.
After a shaky start that cost Nigeria a 2-0 loss to South Africa in the opening match of the qualifier, the Eagles have gone on a 3-match winning streak and presently top Group E with 9 points.
