Liverpool Await Leipzig at Anfield With Crucial Advantage

Liverpool await at Anfield to secure victory over leipzig

The Reds head home to play the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 fixture with a significant upper hand against RB Leipzig after a 2-0 victory at the Puskas Arena.

Second half goals for the six-time title holders, from their two most lethal attackers, see the Reds progress halfway to the quarter finals as Liverpool await to finish it up at the comfort of their home, Anfield.

The first half, as entertaining as it was to watch, featured a good number of near attempts in a very open game, which neither side was able to open the goal scoring for the night.

The German outfit came closest to breaking the deadlock in the 5th minute as a diving header from Daniel Olmo finishing a cut back from Angelino, struck the post.

Liverpool’s fantastic trio, were unable to convert decent chances created from alot of movement from the full backs on the flanks.

Leipzig became the masterminds of their own downfall after two defensive mistakes were capitalized on and punished by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

They now face an uphill challenge in overcoming Klopp’s men, as Liverpool await at Anfield to protect a crucial two goal lead, in it’s once impregnable temple of football.

After a series of recent losses and a self-destructive performance against Leicester City, the English champions showed great mental resilience to head into the Leipzig game with a winning mentality.

Klopp was satisfied with the performance of his team away from home as he praised the entire squad for their effort.

Liverpool have suffered a number of setbacks this season which include but are not limited to the missing of Virgil Van Dijk and other senior center-half pairings and losing Henderson’s creativity in the middle of the park.

Hopefully, they can secure a win over Lepzig with the aid of their significant advantage.
