Liverpool have confirmed the £41million signing of a five-year contract with Wolves forward Diogo Jota.
Also, the 23-year-old’s shirt number was confirmed.
The Merseyside club’s new signing Jota will wear the number 20 shirt, which was left vacant after Adam Lallana left the club and joined Brighton on a free.
Jota has only ever worn number 18 for Wolves, the number he also wore at Pacos de Ferreira, but he has previously worn number 19 while at Porto.
Takumi Minamino is currently in possession of the 18 shirt but the number 19 was free and Jota has opted against taking it.
Asked if there was any reason for choosing number 20, Jota told the club’s official website : “No, not really. But I think it’s a good number and hopefully I can do good things with it.
Speaking after completing the move, Jota said: “It’s just a really exciting moment for me and my family.
”All of my path since I was a kid and now, to join a club like Liverpool – the world champions – is just unbelievable. I just want to get started.’’
