Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez has been given the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for March after beating Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho to the individual accolade.
The Algeria international also beat off competition from Manchester United’s Luke Shaw, Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, West Ham United’s Jesse Lingard and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, to win the prize.
Mahrez bagged three goals in four league games last month for the Citizens, including his brace against Southampton.
His impressive performances were convincing enough for the Algeria star to be voted as the best player by the fans ahead of Iheanacho, who delivered spectacular performances for the Foxes.
The 24-year-old attacker scored five goals, including his second hat-trick of his career, against Sheffield United, for the King Power Stadium outfit.
Iheanacho, who recently extended his contract with the Foxes, won the Premier League Player of the Month award for the first time in his career while the Super Eagles attacker has also been nominated for Leicester Goal of the Month.
