According to AS, City have put a “formal offer” on the table and are prepared to meet the €70million release clause for the 22-year-old.

Pep Guardiola was unable to land Jorginho last summer and is still looking for a long-term replacement for 34-year-old Fernandinho, whose contract at the Etihad ends next year.

Apparently, the chance to work with Pep Guardiola is believed to be a big attraction for Rodri.

City though are willing to offer the holding midfielder, who only arrived from a long-term deal from Villarreal last summer, long-term deal.
