Manchester City have tabled a formal offer to Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri, according to a report.
The Spaniard has been linked to City multiple times with a report earlier this month suggesting Nicolas Otamendi would be used as a filler in a deal.
According to AS, City have put a “formal offer” on the table and are prepared to meet the €70million release clause for the 22-year-old.
Pep Guardiola was unable to land Jorginho last summer and is still looking for a long-term replacement for 34-year-old Fernandinho, whose contract at the Etihad ends next year.
Apparently, the chance to work with Pep Guardiola is believed to be a big attraction for Rodri.
City though are willing to offer the holding midfielder, who only arrived from a long-term deal from Villarreal last summer, long-term deal.
Cadena Ser reported last month that Bayern Munich – who have already secured the services of Atletico’s Lucas Hernandez –including Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United were all tracking Rodri’s progress in the Spanish capital.
