Guardiola Identifies Man City’s Left-Back For Next Season

man citys left-back next season

Clearly, it is a hard task to identify exactly where Manchester City could improve but many would have said straight away is left-back.

Because of Benjamin Mendy’s struggle with injuries, some players have tried to fit into the role, including Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is now the starter in that role.

The 22-year-old, who is valued at £13.5 million, has once again been used at left-back this season but suddenly to great benefit.

After struggling initially last season when sent to try that role, the Ukrainian international has since deputised extremely well.

Thus, Pep Guardiola must make use of Zinchenko rather than turning to Mendy next season, as City have been unstoppable with him on the field.

In his 13 Premier League appearances, Zinchenko and City have won every single one of them, keeping ten clean-sheets in the process.

Zinchenko has provided three assists during those appearances, whilst his defensive capabilities have extremely improved too.

Manchester City care very lucky to have such a versatile player within their ranks as Zinchenko can play anywhere from left-back, to central-midfield.

He has shown great maturity all through the season and has adapted giftedly to the role in which Guardiola demands he performs.

Rather than spend millions on a new left-back, the Citizens should really consider sticking with Zinchenko and help him develop even more next season.
