Manchester United have shortlisted Mauricio Pochettino as an alternative manager should they sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but Manchester City have their own plans amid Pep Guardiola uncertainty.
The Red Devils are aware of City's plan to land the ex- Tottenham manager as they prepare for life after Guardiola.
Club chief Ed Woodward is a huge fan of Pochettino and wanted him to replace Sir Alex Ferguson all the way back in 2013, including after Jose Mourinho's dismissal but his contract at Spurs prevented it from happening.
But they are not the only ones taking a close look at the Argentine.
City are also keen on landing the former Southampton coach as a replacement for Guardiola, according to the Mirror.
The Murphy-born manager has had a year out of football after being sacked at White Hart Lane and he has always maintained he would like a year out before jumping into a new project.
