Manchester United's hopes of signing former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo on a permanent basis this summer may have suffered a possible blow after the on-loan Shanghai Shenhua player was offered a two-year contract extension by his parent club.
The Chinese outfit have offered Igahlo, who has been a big hit with the United supporters since arriving at Old Trafford back in January, a new two-year contract extension worth more than £400,000-per-week.
The former Watford striker is scheduled to return to China following the expiry of his loan on May 30.
But it is reported, also by Sky Sports, that the deal may be extended until June 30 because of the coronavirus outbreak, which has forced the Premier League campaign to come to a halt until June 30, at the earliest.
The news of Ighalo being set for a new mega-money deal by Shanghai Shenhua has certainly brought about a reaction from United fans, who appear keen for the striker to stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer.
