Manchester United are set to swoop for Borussia Dortmund star Manuel Akanji when the summer transfer window reopens.
Reports claim the defender ‘would like to move’ to the club at some point.
He’s not the only player in the Red Devils’ sights, either, with Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland still of interest.
The Red Devils want to sign a new centre-back this summer.
Though Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have done well enough, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t appear to trust the likes of Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe in reserve.
As a result, Akanji was recently linked with a move to Old Trafford.
And though he’s now extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund to 2023, Ruhr Nachrichten claim the 25-year-old would like to play for United in the future.
At the current moment in time, however, it’s claimed an exit is ‘unlikely’ – even if it’s not been entirely ruled out.
So far, there have been no signs the player wants to leave the Westfalenstadion.
And that could force United into going for alternatives, with the likes of Raphael Varane, Jules Kounde and Ben White all earmarked as potential targets behind the scenes.
