That is the view of Spurs legend Clive Allen, who believes Ryan Mason will not be handed the full-time job.
“I think it’s unlikely I’ve got to be honest,” Tottenham great Allen told the talkSPORT Breakfast.
“Ryan’s a Tottenham kid. He came in as a very young player and loves the club. He’s said all the right things.
“He’s the right fit at the moment to hold the fort until the summer and he could do his credentials a lot of good.
“What an opportunity for him it is to show his experience and the experience he’ll gain over the next seven days.
“But, long term it’s unlikely that he’ll be the permanent manager.”
Jamie O’Hara, meanwhile, backed Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa for the Tottenham job – though he admitted it would take a lot to tempt him away from Elland Road.
“I would say Bielsa,” said the talkSPORT pundit. “I think he’d be absolutely brilliant and the fans would love him.
“If you can try and prise him away form there it’d be unbelievable.
“The Leeds fans would be devastated and there would be uproar but Spurs are bigger than Leeds.”
