Maurizio Sarri is understood to be considering making Eden Hazard captain so as to convince the Belgian to remain at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have reportedly told interested clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid that Hazard, who has been linked with a move away – will cost £200m in the current transfer window.
According to The Mirror, the Chelsea boss' next move in a bid to keep hold of Hazard is to offer him a role as captain, with Sarri reportedly determined to ignore interest from the La Liga duo.
The newspaper says that while the Italian boss has not finalised his decision, the World Cup semi-finalist Hazard is a strong contender to be skipper alongside Cesc Fabregas as well as Cesar Azpilicueta.
Hazard, who has two years remaining on his existing contract, has reportedly been offered an extension by his current employers.
