Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed they have offered Lionel Messi a new five-year deal – and plan to keep him part of the club “Forever”.

Is Messi Leaving Barcelona possible? In case you didn't know, the 31-year-old has two and a half years remaining on his current deal at the Nou Camp and discussions have recently emerged regarding how the club will be able to move on from the iconic Argentinian.

the Messi Leaving Barcelona story is not a new one as the player has previously spoken of his desire to play for boyhood club Newell's Old Boys before hanging up his boots – yet Bartomeu is hopeful he will never leave the Catalan club.

“Leo Messi will continue with us,” Bartomeu told Barcelona-based radio station RKB, cited by Marca.

“He is a club player and the relationship will continue forever.

“We have offered him a new contract over five years and I hope we will continue discussing the deal.”

Barcelona have also handed manager Ernesto Valverde a new one-year contract extension with an option to add a further year which would keep him with the club until the end of the 2020-21 season.
