Mikel Agu has netted his first goal of the season for loan club Vitoria Setubal in their 3-1 loss to Portimonense in the Portuguese Liga.
The Super Eagles' midfielder started his eighth league game of the campaign but was powerless to help Setubal as they gave in to their sixth loss of the season against their more explosive host which had the in-form Jackson Martinez to thank for their win.
Jadson put the hosts ahead after just 10 minutes with a fine individual before former Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez on-loan from Guangzhou doubled Portimonense's lead three minutes to halftime to give them a comfy 2-0 lead.
The second half started in a similar way as the first with the hosts piling more pressure on Setubal before Martinez ended any hope of a comeback when he scored his second and Portimonense's third in the 58th minute after being set up by Shoya Nakajima.
Down but not yet out, the away side got what only proved to be a consolatory goal when the impressive Agu jumped highest to head in an Ever Bessa corner just on the hour mark to ensure the visitors returned home with a goal.
Agu, 25, played the entire duration of the game, having an impressive game rating of 7.8, completing 57% of his passes, winning a game-high 10 duels and also making two interceptions and one clearance.
