Mikel Obi is set for a return to English football with the 31-year-old close to joining Premier League hopefuls Middlesbrough in the next few hours.
The Super Eagles' captain has been on the radar of quite a few European big weights, talk about the likes of Roma and Wolfsburg after his stay with Chinese club Tianjin Teda but it seems a reunion with his family has now given the championship side pole position to land the midfielder.

As per reports in the British media, Mikel has already agreed on personal terms at the Riverside and is said to be already having his medicals at the club on Tuesday afternoon after he arrived from the north-east.
The former Chelsea midfielder will be part of a Tony Pulis side looking to bring Premier League football back to the Riverside next season with Boro presently occupying the fifth position in the Championship table and seven points off leaders Leeds.
Mikel won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the League Cup during his 11-year spell with the Blues.
The Nigerian also achieved success in European competitions with Chelsea as he won both the Champions League and Europa League during his time in England.
